"Neighbor Helping Neighbor"

Fannie Mae has been running the Help the Homeless program for 23 years, Gaithersburg HELP has participated for the past 14 years. Last year we raised almost one quarter of our entire budget through this one fund raising campaign. Please help us make this year an even greater success!

100% of the dollars we receive go towards meeting costs of the food, transportation, infant needs and prescriptions that Gaithersburg HELP provides to the needy in our area.  And it also supports our coordination with UMAN (Upper Montgomery Assistance Network) who assist clients to prevent utility disconnections and housing evictions. Your contribution and participation will mean so much to our neighbors in need!

Here are some of the ways you can participate:

1)    Organize a mini-walk at your school, congregation, or group.

In addition to schools and congregations, mini walks can now be held by almost any organized group of 15 or more people such as nursing homes, athletic teams, scouts, fire departments, boys & girls clubs, civic groups, etc. Also, you can now hold a mini-walk anytime between July 1 and November 7 which is a 2 month extension of time from past years.  For details contact our HTH Chair, Janet Neumann.

2)    Join our Gaithersburg HELP Community Walk on Saturday, October 2nd.

The Community Walk will again be held at the Washingtonian Center (RIO). The registration table will open at 8:00am on the plaza between the Rio Grande and Joe’s Crab Shack restaurants. Walkers can sign in and walk anytime between 8:00 A.M. and Noon, and can walk around the lake as many times as they would like. The registration fee is $15 for those 25 and under and $25 for all others. All registered walkers will receive a Help the Homeless T-shirt. Contact Janet Neumann for more details at gaithersburghelp@yahoo.com.  For Registration Form, click here.  For Walker Information Sheet, click here.

3)      Register to walk at the main walk downtown DC on November 20th.

If you cannot attend the Community walk on October 2nd, please consider registering online to walk in the large Fannie Mae walk downtown on November 20th.  See www.helpthehomelessdc.org for all the details.

**NEW THIS YEAR—you can be a VIRTUAL WALKER or you can recruit distant friends and family members as Virtual Walkers. See www.helpthehomelessdc.org for details.  The Virtual Walker funds also come directly to Gaithersburg HELP and each Virtual Walker is also counted in our walker total.

4)    Write a check to sponsor kids to walk.

If you prefer, you can also participate by sponsoring kids who cannot afford the registration fee for the mini-walk at their school. Let us know how many kids you can support at $15 each, making checks payable to “Fannie Mae Help the Homeless/CFNCR”. More info under SUPER Donor.

All registration dollars and sponsorships will directly benefit the services of Gaithersburg HELP and are tax deductible.
