Gaithersburg HELP
Critical Volunteer Opportunities
Winter 2012
- Food Coordinator
Volunteers are needed to assist Gaithersburg residents requesting food.
This position requires working from home one or more weekdays a month, returning
client telephone requests for food and scheduling clients in our web-based
database to pick up food in the pantry. The time requirement is from 9:00
a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Training will be provided. Some of our
communication is through email and our client information is now in an online
database, so Food Coordinator volunteers need to have Internet access and their
own computer. Please call 301-216-2510, Box 6 and someone will return your
call.
- Translator Volunteers
- Gaithersburg HELP is looking for volunteers who are comfortable speaking on
the phone in both Spanish and English, and who are available two or more days a
month during weekday mornings. We operate largely through a phone message
system, so the volunteering can be done from home. We are looking for
volunteers who can return calls to Spanish speakers, talk to them about
the help we have available, schedule them for picking up food or other
assistance, and relay info in English to other other volunteers operating the
HELP system. Some of our communication is through email, and our client
information is now in an online database, so HELP Translaotr volunteers need to
have Internet access and their own computer. Training will be provided.
If you are interested in volunteering please call us at 301-216-2510, Box 6 and
someone will return your call.
